Winter Hillcrest Plumbing and Heating Tips

The cold weather is now upon us and it’s time to winterize around the house. One of the most common issues during the winter is freezing water lines. This problem can be eliminated a few different ways. All exposed water lines should be well insulated or you can use electric pipe heating cables to keep the lines warm. Most outside hose bibs have a shut off valve located inside the house that can be turned off and the bib can then be drained. ALWAYS disconnect garden hoses from the hose bib as residual water in the hose will freeze and could possibly split the water line.

Furnaces and Boilers

The heating system in your house will now be working harder than ever and now is the time to have it serviced. The last thing you need is to have your furnace or boiler shut down during a cold winter night. Whether you need a simple repair or a complete heating system replacement we can help.

Lawn Sprinkler Systems

Most lawn sprinkler systems will retain water in the lines that will be subject to freezing. To prevent this turn off the water supply at the source and if possible blow out the water lines with compressed air.
